WEDDING GUIDELINES

The historic sanctuary of Blowing Rock Methodist Church is available for rental for weddings from May through October, subject to the following guidelines.

Rentals are limited to members who have attended regularly or their family members. However, in the event that Dr. Brown is officiating or Hollie Lacey is providing music for a wedding at the church, a member of the Wedding Committee may approve a rental to other individuals.

The fee is $1,000 for Non Members. Members $100. This fee does not include the services of a minister or organist which should be handled directly by the renting party.

Since weddings are typically held on a Saturday, it is essential that the church be ready for worship on the following Sunday. The fee charged includes the cost of housekeeping services after the wedding. However, it is expected that the wedding party will remove any personal items, decorations and flowers immediately following the wedding (unless arrangements have been made to leave altar flowers for Sunday). The altar furniture should be undisturbed. Any items which have been moved must be restored to their original position including the folding chairs that belong outside under the tent as well as the folding chairs that belong inside the church.

A representative of the church will attend the rehearsal and the wedding and will open the church before and secure the church after the wedding.

During the June through September season, a tent is typically erected in front of the sanctuary. If so, the tent will need to remain in place during the use of the church building for a wedding.

The church is a wooden structure that is over 100 years old. Renters must  treat the sanctuary with care. Except for candles on the altar table, open flames inside the sanctuary are strictly prohibited.

Due to the small size of the church, photographers should take care not to disrupt the service.

The church holds 140 maximum.
